Design Engineer (Power Plant)

Location: Minerbio, Bologna, Italy. The role requires working in the office five days a week except during business travel.

Base minimum pay: €52,660.00.

What you will do

• Design mechanical components, equipment, systems, and layout drawings for power plant applications.
• Research materials and competing products, and organize, coordinate, and execute prototype building, testing, and analysis.
• Develop functional requirements, detailed design documents, technical specifications, engineering documentation, cost estimates, proposals, and technical reports.
• Coordinate technical activities with customers, suppliers, buyers, supply specialists, and internal stakeholders throughout project execution.
• Review supplier drawings, technical documentation, technical specifications, customer requirements, and contractual engineering documentation to support procurement and design compliance.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and supervise or support on-site installation, construction, commissioning, manufacturing, and start-up activities.

Requirements

• Degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
• Extensive experience in analytical thinking, including identifying inconsistencies, evaluating root causes, comparing risks and benefits, selecting analytical tools, and breaking down complex problems.
• Working knowledge of effective communication, including giving and receiving feedback, making presentations, writing reports, and adapting communication to the audience.
• Working knowledge of managing multiple priorities across concurrent assignments, projects, groups, and operational demands.
• Working knowledge of technical excellence, including applying technical and project standards, resolving routine technical challenges, maintaining current technical knowledge, and supporting others with technical problems.
• Extensive experience with computer-aided design and engineering, including graphical representation of complex products and systems, orthographic, isometric, and axonometric projections, design-object manipulation, drawing layers, coordinate transformations, and top-down versus bottom-up design approaches.
• Extensive experience in product design for manufacturing, including translating customer and market requirements into product designs, evaluating functionality, coordinating resources and design costs, monitoring complex design processes, and addressing customer feedback.
• Working knowledge of product design and development from concept through production, including three-dimensional modeling, prototype development, alternative production methods, and automated design tools.
