What you will do

• Drive technical pre-sales in partnership with Account Executives and build customer relationships around CDP deployments.
• Conduct discovery and requirements workshops to understand business drivers, pain points, and technical goals.
• Create and deliver solution designs, proposed architectures, and business outcomes to developers, architects, CTOs, and CIOs.
• Advise customers on use-case patterns and demonstrate the value of data lake, analytics, and distributed computing solutions.
• Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Product Management, Services, Support, Training, and Engineering.
• Translate customer feedback into product roadmap items and contribute to evangelism, knowledge repositories, blogs, meetups, and industry events.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in a customer-facing pre-sales role, such as Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, technical consultant, or Solutions Architect, acting as a co-seller for enterprise solutions.
• Experience conducting technical discovery, whiteboarding solution architectures, running demos, building technical proofs of concept, and delivering business value.
• Experience with the Apache Hadoop ecosystem, including HDFS and YARN, and related components such as Spark, Hive, Impala, Kudu, and Solr.
• Experience with public cloud infrastructure such as AWS, Azure, GCP, or IBM Cloud, with interest in achieving public cloud certification.
• Experience with Linux OS, bare metal, virtual machines, and distributed container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
• Some experience with data lakes, data warehousing principles, SQL, relational database patterns, and application integration.
• Basic software development experience in Java, Scala, or Python.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills, plus knowledge of competitive differentiators.
• Interest in Data Science and understanding of the difference between Data Engineering and Applied Science.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a technical field.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and complete work together.

Nice to have

• Understanding of enterprise security and data governance operations and integration challenges.
• Experience with and interest in open-source software and development practices.
• NoSQL or operational database experience, including HBase, Phoenix, Accumulo, Druid, Cassandra, or MongoDB.
• EDW experience with Teradata, Netezza, Greenplum, or Exadata.
• Data Science and ML experience with R, Python, Anaconda, Jupyter, or deep learning frameworks.
• Experience with integration products such as Talend, DataStage, Informatica BDM, Qlik, Tableau, Zoomdata, Tibco, MuleSoft, IBM, Oracle, or Spring Integration.
• Experience with data flow, queues, and stream processing technologies such as NiFi, Kafka, Flink, or Spark.
