Senior Director, Finance - Employee Benefits

Location: Hybrid, requiring three days in office per week in Philadelphia or Cedar Rapids, United States. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Salary: $220,000–$265,000 annually, plus potential eligibility for an annual bonus.

What you will do

• Serve as the senior Finance business partner and financial advisor to Employee Benefits senior leaders.
• Lead integrated financial planning across sales, premiums, earnings, expenses, capital, and new-business value for budgets, multi-year plans, and recurring forecasts.
• Analyze product and portfolio economics, including pricing, underwriting performance, claims trends, expense allocation, profitability, returns, capital efficiency, and product mix.
• Identify risks, opportunities, and corrective actions, and own the financial performance narrative for executive reporting.
• Present financial performance, outlook, strategic analysis, and recommendations to senior leaders, management, and governance committees.
• Coordinate assumptions and actions across Product, Pricing, Actuarial, Sales, Distribution, Operations, Accounting, Investments, Risk, and Finance, while overseeing performance goals and compensation decisions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience.
• 15 years of accounting or finance experience, including 10 years of management experience.
• Extensive knowledge of the Employee Benefits business, including Life, Supplemental Health, and other Medical Gap products and their economics.
• Experience with GAAP and Statutory Accounting principles associated with an Employee Benefits business.
• Strong leadership skills and business acumen.
• Demonstrated success influencing senior business leaders and converting complex analysis into clear recommendations.
• Experience leading multi-year planning, forecasting, scenario analysis, and executive performance reporting.
• Effective oral and written communication with diverse audiences, along with organizational and prioritization skills.
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, Excel, and financial business systems.
