Senior Finance Leader (AI)

Location: South San Francisco, CA; in-person hybrid schedule averaging three days per week.

Salary: $300,000–$345,000 annual starting salary for successful US-based applicants, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus and equity incentive plan.

What you will do

• Own the annual operating plan, quarterly reforecasts, long-range plan, company-wide budget, headcount and compensation model, and rolling forecast transition.
• Build scenario-planning capabilities that quantify budget impacts of business decisions across Research, Platform and Compute, Clinical Development, lab operations, and G&A.
• Own the finance systems roadmap, including Oracle Cloud ERP, data warehouse integration, LLM-based tools, FP&A solutions, automated reporting, dashboards, scorecards, and variance reports.
• Partner with Research, Platform, Clinical Development, People, Accounting, IT, Investor Relations, Corporate Strategic Finance, and Corporate Development on cost, headcount, planning, reporting, and financial narrative alignment.
• Model clinical trial costs, CRO/CMO spend, cloud and GPU commitments, build-versus-buy decisions, portfolio economics, requisition sequencing, and headcount governance.
• Lead and grow the FP&A team, advise the CFO on finance organization design, prepare Executive Team and Board materials, and present budget, forecast, and variance drivers to the Board and Audit Committee.

Requirements

• 12+ years of FP&A or finance experience in biotech or life sciences, including ownership of a full planning cycle end to end.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• Experience building an FP&A function, standing up a planning system, moving to a rolling forecast, and automating reporting.
• Experience presenting at Board and Audit Committee level, plus public-company experience with SEC reporting cycles and guidance-setting.
• IPO preparation experience and working knowledge of public-company planning and reporting discipline.
• Clinical development finance experience, including trial cost modeling, CRO/vendor management, accruals, and working knowledge of R&D accounting judgments such as ASC 730 and ASC 808.
• Hands-on experience with an enterprise planning platform; strong knowledge of Oracle Cloud ERP/EPM or equivalent; and strong modeling and presentation skills in Excel, think-cell, and Google Workspace.
• Experience scaling AI- or LLM-enabled capabilities across a finance team beyond personal use.
• Experience leading finance teams, including managing senior individual contributors.
• Ability to build credibility with technical leaders, advance multiple projects under constraints, engage respectfully, and take ownership of outcomes and systems.

• MBA, CFA, CPA, or a consulting background.
