Facilities Manager (Biotech)

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom; two sites in Cambridgeshire. Most of the time is spent on site.

What you will do

• Run facilities operations across two sites, covering planned and reactive maintenance, cleaning, security, waste and general site services.
• Maintain consistent facilities standards and manage supplier and service contracts, quality, value and accountability.
• Manage the facilities budget while balancing cost discipline, safety and reliability.
• Lead the move to the new headquarters, including relocation planning and readiness of utilities, access, safety systems and operational processes.
• Manage building health, safety and compliance, including audits, inspections, risk assessments and corrective actions.
• Improve policies, procedures, sustainability, resilience and the future operation of the sites while working with senior leaders, landlords, contractors and colleagues.

Requirements

• Experience as a Facilities Manager or in a similar facilities role.
• Strong practical understanding of health and safety, fire safety and building compliance.
• Experience working with external contractors and service providers, including holding them accountable.
• Organisational and communication skills for managing competing priorities without losing detail.
• Practical, proactive and solutions-focused approach, with a willingness to work on site and resolve issues directly.
• Ability to manage more than one site and switch between forward planning and immediate problem solving.

Nice to have

• Experience in laboratory, technical or regulated environments.
• Involvement in refurbishment, relocation or fit-out projects.
• Interest in sustainability and energy management.
