Senior Software Developer (Java, AWS, DevOps)

Location: Toronto, Canada. Hybrid schedule: Wednesday through Friday in the office and Saturday and Sunday remotely/from home. Work Wednesday through Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with Monday and Tuesday off; regular weekend and off-hours operational coverage is required.

Base pay range: $104,000–$148,000 annually, plus annual bonus/commission, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, engineer, develop, test, deploy, and support Java-based web and back-end applications.
• Build reliable, scalable, cloud-ready application solutions using AWS services and containers.
• Modernize deployment practices and implement CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, deployments, and release processes.
• Write infrastructure as code with Terraform and CloudFormation and support AWS configuration and deployment.
• Improve monitoring and operational visibility, troubleshoot production and pre-production issues, and strengthen security, connectivity, and release reliability.
• Collaborate with development, QA, DevOps, and operations teams across distributed teams.

Requirements

• Professional software development experience or equivalent hands-on experience building, testing, and supporting enterprise applications.
• Strong Java software development experience, preferably with Spring Boot or related Spring frameworks.
• DevOps experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, deployments, and release practices.
• Experience with repositories and build tools such as Maven, Git, GitLab, and Bitbucket.
• Experience with Angular, React, or other modern UI frameworks.
• Comfort working in a Linux command-line environment and scripting with Python, shell scripting, or similar automation languages.
• Cloud experience with AWS services, containers, RDS, SNS/SQS, CloudFormation, and Terraform.
• Commitment to automated testing, code quality, maintainability, and secure development practices.
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, verbal communication, and written communication skills.

Nice to have

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Experience with JBoss, WildFly, or Tomcat.
• Understanding of Apache HTTP Server, NGINX, and TCP/IP networking concepts.
• Experience supporting production systems, observability, incident troubleshooting, or operational readiness.
