Senior Rule Engine Consultant

Location: Remote in Europe; Lisbon, Portugal

Salary: €28,000–€52,000 per year

What you will do

• Design and implement rule-engine solutions using constraints, precedence, deterministic evaluation, and decision tables.
• Build backend services and APIs with C#/.NET, Java, or comparable technologies, including REST, events, and persistence.
• Integrate rule-engine capabilities into modern web applications with state management and UX feedback.
• Develop versioned schemas, reconciliation processes, and repeatable migration tooling.
• Translate complex engineering rules into executable specifications and collaborate on product configurators, manufacturing software, CAD/PLM integrations, and technical master data.
• Support CI/CD, observability, security, deployment, recovery, and long-term software maintenance.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in a similar role.
• Experience with rule engines and algorithms, including constraints, precedence, deterministic evaluation, and decision tables.
• Backend and API experience with C#/.NET, Java, or comparable technologies, as well as REST, events, and persistence.
• Experience integrating with modern web applications, including state management and UX feedback.
• Experience with versioned schemas, reconciliation, and repeatable migration tooling.
• Domain exposure to product configurators, bills of materials, manufacturing or industrial software, CAD/PLM integrations, or technical master data.
• Ability to translate complex engineering rules into executable specifications.
• Experience with CI/CD, observability, security, deployment, recovery, and long-term software maintenance.
