Senior Java Developer

Location: Hybrid in Porto or Lisbon, Portugal

What you will do

• Develop and support innovative backend solutions for investment banking and financial services operations.
• Build and maintain Java-based microservices using the Spring ecosystem.
• Design RESTful APIs and secure communication between microservices.
• Optimize SQL database access and data models.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD automation pipelines.
• Collaborate in an Agile, cross-border and multicultural environment.

Requirements

• Degree in Technology, Computer Engineering, or a similar field; equivalent experience is considered.
• 6+ years of professional experience in Java software development, with a strong focus on backend microservices architecture.
• Deep proficiency in Spring Boot 3.x and the wider Spring ecosystem, including Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data JPA.
• Solid experience with Java 17 or 21, object-oriented principles, design patterns, and multithreading.
• Experience with RESTful API design, API-first strategies, OAuth2, and JWT.
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL, including data modeling and database access optimization.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD automation pipelines using Jenkins, XL Deploy, XL Release, or similar tools.
• Fluent English at minimum B2/C1 level is mandatory.
• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, including Scrum or Kanban, and Jira; exceptional problem-solving, debugging, analytical, communication, collaboration, client-oriented, and proactive skills.

Nice to have

• Frontend development experience with Angular, preferably recent versions, to work as a Fullstack Developer.
• French language skills.
