Software Development Engineer (Java/AWS)

What you will do

• Design and document distributed systems and microservices for Ring backend services.
• Build low-latency systems with the uptime and reliability required for security products.
• Implement robust, maintainable code with clear documentation.
• Deliver customer value iteratively while developing longer-term solutions for roadmap goals.
• Collaborate with engineers and product managers, communicating progress and changes to stakeholders.
• Apply generative AI tools and techniques to improve development productivity, code quality, and system design while maintaining security and compliance.

Requirements

• Professional software development experience outside internships.
• Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
• Experience programming in a modern language such as Java, C++, or C# with object-oriented design.
• Experience contributing to system architecture and design.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
• Experience delivering complex software systems to customers.
