Technical Lead – Backend Java Engineer 100% (f/m/d) (Java)

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, and maintenance of Java 21 and Jakarta EE backend applications deployed on JBoss EAP 8.
• Define scalable, maintainable, and reliable software solutions and make technical decisions across REST APIs, SOAP integrations, messaging, persistence, and application architecture.
• Lead REST, SOAP, JMS, and enterprise messaging integrations, working with Oracle databases on data modeling, performance tuning, and schema evolution.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions with Product Owners, Architects, and stakeholders.
• Coordinate releases, deployments, environment readiness, production rollouts, and production support with QA, DevOps, Operations, and Frontend teams.
• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and coaching while promoting engineering standards and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Expert-level hands-on Java development experience with Java 21, Jakarta EE, JPA/Hibernate, and Maven multi-module applications.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and enterprise application design principles.
• Experience building and consuming REST and SOAP services using technologies such as JAX-RS and JAX-WS.
• Strong Oracle database experience, including SQL optimization, schema design, and data persistence.
• Experience with messaging and integration technologies, including JMS and enterprise messaging platforms.
• Strong knowledge of testing practices using JUnit, Mockito, and integration testing frameworks.
• Experience with release management, deployment processes, and production support activities.
• Ability to lead technical discussions, make architectural decisions, communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and balance hands-on engineering with technical leadership.
• Strong mentoring, coaching, and code review skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with Angular, TypeScript, or modern frontend frameworks for integration support.
• Knowledge of OpenAPI Generator, API governance, and contract-first development.
• Experience with Flyway and database migration strategies.
• Familiarity with Splunk, OpenTelemetry, and observability best practices.
• Experience with Docker-based local development environments.
• Exposure to Kotlin and automated integration testing frameworks.
• Experience driving technical improvements, platform modernization, and engineering process enhancements.
• Experience working in Agile environments with distributed and cross-functional teams.
