US Controller, North America (Remote, US) (SaaS)

Location: Remote within the United States; must be based in the Eastern Time Zone for real-time collaboration with the European Finance team. The posting also lists Itasca, Illinois, United States.

Base salary: $135,000–$175,000 per year, plus a 10% target bonus.

What you will do

• Own the US month-end close, key balance sheet accounts, group reporting inputs, and US financial integrity.
• Ensure accounting follows group IFRS policy and identify US GAAP adjustments required for local reporting.
• Lead multi-state US sales and use tax, including Avalara, and coordinate federal, state, and local tax compliance with external advisers.
• Maintain the US finance and compliance calendar and act as the main contact for auditors, tax advisers, and authorities.
• Partner with HR on payroll, 401(k), benefits accounting, reconciliations, treasury execution, cash forecasting, payment runs, and banking administration.
• Own project and commission accounting, support intercompany accounting and FX revaluation, prepare required US sub-consolidation, and lead the US accounting team while standardizing processes with central Finance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Experience as a Controller, Senior Accounting Manager, or Finance Manager, ideally in a multinational organization.
• Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and reporting requirements, including multi-state sales and use tax experience.
• Hands-on experience with payroll, benefits, banking, and payment controls.
• Comfort owning detailed accounting work directly rather than operating only through a large team.
• Must be based in the United States within the Eastern Time Zone.
• Excellent communication skills and confidence working with senior stakeholders and external advisers.

Nice to have

• CPA qualification.
• Working knowledge of IFRS.
• Experience in SaaS or software and with Certinia, Lucanet, or Avalara.
