Controller (SaaS)

Location: New York, NY, USA, or remote from the US East Coast

What you will do

• Own monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and US GAAP consolidation across six entities, including intercompany, FX revaluation, and translation, targeting a close in 10 working days or fewer.
• Maintain balance sheet integrity through account reconciliations, supporting documentation, and review.
• Lead technical accounting analysis for revenue recognition, principal-versus-agent judgements, customer wallet balances and breakage, landed cost, and vendor rebates.
• Lead group and UK statutory audits from planning through fieldwork and sign-off, and manage statutory accounts and tax compliance with external advisers.
• Own and improve internal controls, including controls over prepaid customer wallet funds and segregation of duties.
• Improve NetSuite, SuiteBilling, integrations, automation, and accounting processes while leading and developing the international accounting team.

Requirements

• Typically 8+ years of hands-on accounting experience, ideally including public accounting or work in a complex, multi-entity business.
• Strong US GAAP knowledge, including ASC 606 and principal-versus-agent judgements.
• Experience owning multi-entity, multi-currency close and consolidation, including intercompany and FX, and leading external audits.
• Strong technical and business judgement, including researching accounting positions, assessing broader implications, and communicating clear recommendations.
• Experience leading cross-functional work independently and collaboratively with business leaders and teams, driving complex work through resolution.
• Experience leading people, setting expectations, developing high performers, addressing underperformance, and building team capability.
• Experience designing and operating internal controls in an audited environment.
• Hands-on ERP experience, ideally NetSuite, with a record of using systems and automation to improve processes.
• Proactive, organized, and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-moving international business.

Nice to have

• CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent.
• Experience with physical goods, marketplaces, stored-value, prepaid, or payments accounting, including landed cost, vendor rebates, customer funds, gift cards, or breakage.
• Experience with UK and European entities, including statutory accounts, VAT, or other local compliance requirements.
• NetSuite experience in a high-volume environment, ideally including SuiteBilling and integration-driven transactions.
