Senior/Application Engineer, X-ray (Semiconductor Metrology)

Location: Tainan, Taiwan. The role includes approximately 50% domestic travel and 10% international travel, both on short notice, and requires work in production floor, cleanroom, and laboratory environments.

What you will do

• Provide technical expertise through sales presentations, product demonstrations, product installation, maintenance, and customer support.
• Assess customer process-metrology applications and prepare product specifications for application and solution development.
• Build application demonstrations and prototypes based on customer requirements to validate feasibility.
• Support sales staff and customers with technical information and develop a strong understanding of competitive technologies and X-ray products.
• Help maintain and increase X-ray product usage and continuously improve the customer support and applications knowledge database.
• Analyze complex system and application problems, troubleshoot issues, and recommend metrology opportunities based on customer requirements.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Material Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Electrical Engineering with X-ray tool experience, plus at least 2–3 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of statistics and data analysis, with a solid theoretical understanding of physics for solving complex system and application issues.
• Hands-on experience with X-ray technology such as XRD, XRR, or XRF.
• Knowledge of semiconductor process flow, including epitaxy and deposition, and semiconductor metrology solutions and applications.
• Experience in the semiconductor industry, familiarity with problem analysis and troubleshooting techniques, and the ability to work in semiconductor fabrication environments.
• Fluent English, technical writing experience, and strong oral, written, communication, interpersonal, intercultural, and customer-orientation skills.
• Foundational programming and coding skills using Python, VBA, or similar tools.
• Ability to work creatively under pressure and tight deadlines, organize and discipline work independently, and collaborate in multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally on short notice.

Nice to have

• Experience in semiconductor fabrication or with semiconductor X-ray or optical metrology.
• Prior experience working in a semiconductor fab as an employee or equipment vendor.
• Experience with AFM characterization or metrology.
• Experience with photomask manufacturing or repair processes.
