Product Development Engineer (Semiconductor Equipment)

Location: Hsinchu, Taiwan; on-site customer support in Taiwan with 90–100% travel. Training may take place at offices in Singapore and the United States.

What you will do

• Design new and improve existing electron-beam imaging products for the semiconductor equipment market.
• Develop next-generation products by defining software, algorithm, and hardware requirements, then supporting design validation, characterization, system integration, and product lifecycle activities.
• Troubleshoot complex system-level issues at customer sites through root-cause analysis and diagnostic tools.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and cross-functional experts to improve product performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
• Set up experiments, model systems, analyze scientific data, and develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems.
• Gain a detailed functional understanding of the full product, including optics, imaging, detectors, electronics, vacuum systems, wafer transfer, algorithms, machine control, and UI software.

Requirements

• Master’s degree or PhD in Physics, Engineering Physics, Engineering Design, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Materials and Metallurgical Engineering.
• Demonstrated ability to set up experiments, perform modelling and data analysis, and solve complex technical problems.
• Proficiency in a scripting language such as MATLAB or Python for scientific data collection and analysis.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to create effective technical presentations.
• Ability to provide on-site customer support in Taiwan and travel 90–100%.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of instrumentation, signal processing, and optical or electro-optical systems such as electron microscopes.
• Experience with vacuum systems, electron optics, and high voltage for scanning electron microscopes or equivalent systems.
• Hands-on experience in machine control and/or scientific data analysis.
