Etch Process Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Newport, United Kingdom. Full-time onsite role with occasional domestic and international travel, including travel to the United States, and occasional shift work.

What you will do

• Develop and demonstrate plasma etch processes for customer wafers using etch demonstration equipment.
• Assess process results with analytical equipment and software, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis.
• Develop and optimise processes across SPTS product platforms, including endpoint detection, long-duration testing, and process control.
• Provide technical support to customers and field teams at factory and customer sites while maintaining customer relationships.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including documentation supporting patents, publications, and conferences.
• Contribute to cross-functional projects supporting new products, technologies, and business units.

Requirements

• Master's degree, or Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with relevant industrial experience; equivalent qualifications and hands-on semiconductor process engineering experience are also considered.
• Experience with plasma etch processing in a semiconductor environment.
• Experience with semiconductor metrology techniques.
• Knowledge and practical experience with endpoint detection techniques.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.

• SEM experience; training can be provided.
