Device Engineer (Semiconductor)

Location: Primarily site based in Manchester, United Kingdom. Limited travel may be required for project, supplier, or collaboration activities.

What you will do

• Perform TCAD simulations to evaluate device concepts and design optimisations.
• Investigate electrical performance and physical device behaviour.
• Support technology development from early concepts through silicon evaluation and qualification.
• Analyse electrical characterisation and reliability data, correlating models with silicon measurements.
• Plan experiments, conduct technical investigations, and perform root cause analysis.
• Collaborate with TCAD, process integration, process development, product engineering, and reliability teams; prepare technical reports and present findings.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Semiconductor Engineering, Materials Science, or a related subject.
• Understanding of semiconductor device physics and fabrication principles.
• Experience with TCAD simulation tools through university research or relevant industry work.
• Strong data analysis, problem-solving, technical interpretation, and communication skills.
• Collaborative approach and proactive learning mindset.
• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD qualification.
• Knowledge of power semiconductor devices such as MOSFETs.
• Experience with Python and electrical characterisation techniques.
• Familiarity with semiconductor reliability concepts.
• Experience with technical projects, experimental planning, or structured root cause analysis.
