Senior Manager, Software Engineering - Data Ventures (AI/ML)

Location: Bentonville, Arkansas, United States; in-person collaboration at Walmart campuses

Salary: $110,000–$220,000 annually, plus performance bonuses and possible stock compensation

What you will do

• Lead platform-level execution of software and AI/ML systems in line with domain priorities and roadmap milestones.
• Oversee shared infrastructure, tooling, and reusable frameworks for scalable and secure development.
• Drive the full software development lifecycle, including DevOps architecture, CI/CD, and cloud cost optimization.
• Guide architectural reviews and system design decisions focused on maintainability, extensibility, performance, and integration across teams.
• Mentor engineers and managers while managing stakeholder relationships, priorities, operational metrics, and engineering improvements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area and 5 years of experience in software engineering or a related area; or 7 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
• 2 years of supervisory experience.
• Extensive experience leading platform engineering initiatives involving scalable, secure, and maintainable software systems.
• Expertise in the full software development lifecycle, DevOps architecture, CI/CD, and cloud cost optimization.
• Strong technical judgment for architectural decisions and system integration across multiple teams.
• Experience managing complex projects and stakeholder relationships and aligning engineering work with strategic business goals.
• Ability to mentor and develop engineering talent.
• Experience integrating AI/ML and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver advanced software products.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or a related area and 3 years of experience in software engineering or a related area.
• Experience creating inclusive digital experiences and implementing WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility best practices.
