Director, Software Engineering (Fintech)

Location: US - Austin, TX; at least 3 days per week in the office. Travel required 5–10% of the time.

Salary: $186,800–$299,200 USD per year, with potential bonus, equity, and sales incentives where applicable.

What you will do

• Lead software engineering teams delivering secure, scalable, high-quality fintech applications and platforms.
• Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
• Drive agile delivery, DevSecOps, automated testing, CI/CD, code quality, security, and maintainability practices.
• Guide responsible integration of Generative AI and Agentic AI coding while maintaining data governance, explainability, and financial regulatory compliance.
• Resolve major incidents, improve monitoring and reliability, and remove technical and delivery obstacles across multiple teams.
• Coach engineers, develop technical talent, and collaborate with product, QA, risk, compliance, and security functions.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 13+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience leading software engineering teams, including teams with direct reports.
• Experience with requirements gathering, system design, architecture, and complex software solutions.
• Experience with agile delivery, DevSecOps, enterprise-scale applications, code development, review, and debugging.
• Experience with test planning, execution, automation, incident response, and resolution.
• Ability to work in the Austin office at least 3 days per week.

• Experience in fintech, payments, banking, securities, or related financial technologies.
