Director of Platform Engineering (Azure)

Location: Remote, United States

Salary: $170,000–$180,000 USD per year

What you will do

• Own the multi-tenant Azure infrastructure strategy, including consolidating legacy tenants onto a single governed foundation.
• Operate and modernize VM-based and Windows Server workloads while guiding migration toward cloud-native platforms.
• Lead Terraform, Ansible, and GitHub Actions practices for consistent, secure, and repeatable infrastructure and delivery.
• Own production reliability through monitoring, alerting, incident response, observability, and operational toil reduction.
• Drive GitHub Enterprise consolidation, engineering tooling, identity and access infrastructure, and modern identity platform migration.
• Partner with Security and Compliance, optimize cloud costs, and build and develop the platform engineering team.

Requirements

• Proven experience leading a platform engineering, DevOps, or SRE function, preferably building or scaling the function.
• Deep hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, with Azure strongly preferred, plus infrastructure as code, Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience with legacy platforms, especially VM-based workloads and Windows Server environments, including keeping legacy systems stable and secure while migrating them to cloud-native approaches.
• Strong experience with production reliability, incident response, observability, and reducing operational toil.
• Experience consolidating or migrating infrastructure across multiple environments or tenants, ideally in a multi-tenant SaaS context.
• Ability to operate as both a hands-on technical leader and a people leader who builds and develops engineering teams.
• Experience partnering with Security and Compliance functions, ideally with sensitive or regulated data.
• Comfort working in a lean, fast-moving mid-market environment with end-to-end ownership.

• Experience in a multi-product or multi-tenant SaaS company that grew through acquisition or consolidation.
