Engineering Manager, DevX Platform as a Service (Kubernetes)

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States; flexible hybrid model. In-person interviews may be required for positions based in the Boston and Dublin offices.

Salary: $154,000–$193,000 USD annual base salary / On-Target Earnings range. The total rewards package may also include discretionary bonuses or incentives, RSUs, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers while supporting technical development, career growth, hiring, and performance management.
• Own the DevX PaaS strategy, roadmap, operations, prioritization, and representation in Engineering Platform planning forums.
• Partner with Engineering Platform leadership and product teams from technical design through implementation and measurement.
• Set technical direction for the Kubernetes platform on AWS EKS and evolve the proprietary Mach5 platform with AWS-native capabilities.
• Promote AI-forward engineering practices, including agentic automation for recurring maintenance and AI-assisted support for developer questions.
• Manage quarterly project scope, estimation, dependencies, upgrades, migrations, maintenance, on-call work, modernization, reliability, security, and developer ergonomics.

Requirements

• 7+ years of relevant engineering experience, including 3+ years in an engineering management or technical lead role.
• Strong backend engineering foundation with experience in architectural discussions, system design, technical trade-offs, Kubernetes/EKS environments, distributed systems, and controller/operator patterns.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD automation using Terraform, Helm, ArgoCD, and GitHub-based workflows.
• Observability and SRE mindset covering metrics, tracing, logging, SLOs, incident response, and post-incident learning.
• Strong interest in AI and agentic development, with the ability to set a vision for AI-assisted maintenance and support and guide teams through related technical and cultural changes.
• Developer- and customer-focused mindset, data-driven decision-making, and experience building paved roads relied on by hundreds of engineers.
• Strong project management skills and Agile experience, with the ability to drive clarity and incremental progress in ambiguous environments.
• Experience mentoring engineers, supporting their professional and technical growth, and handling hiring, performance management, and talent development.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business stakeholders, including the ability to explain technical trade-offs to engineers and executives.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
