Senior Software Engineer (Python)

Location: Boston, MA, United States; hybrid schedule with 4 days in the office and 1 day working remotely.

Base salary: USD 90,000–180,000 per year, plus potential discretionary bonus, incentives, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support full-stack investment modeling applications covering services, web applications, infrastructure, back-end systems, and data layers.
• Set technical direction for Python and dashboard technologies by evaluating, standardizing, and recommending libraries, frameworks, and tools.
• Lead design reviews, provide architectural guidance, mentor engineers, and help raise technical standards.
• Integrate AI-driven capabilities into investment applications and investor-facing workflows.
• Partner with business analysts, QA engineers, and investment professionals throughout requirements, testing, and user acceptance.
• Manage delivery timelines, maintain technical documentation, and support production systems through data-quality checks, alerting, and on-call participation.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience designing and developing durable, impactful software solutions.
• Experience with JIRA, Git, CI/CD using Jenkins or GitHub Actions, AWS, and AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code; hands-on GenAI development experience is a strong plus.
• Proficiency in Python, including pandas, NumPy, SQLAlchemy or a similar ORM, and a plotting or visualization library such as Bokeh; ability to learn internal Python dashboard and data-access libraries.
• Experience providing technical leadership through architecture or design discussions, library and framework standardization, or mentoring engineers.
• Experience building and maintaining production front-end applications with React, HTML, and CSS, including consumption of GraphQL and/or REST APIs.
• Experience writing SQL and working with relational databases including PostgreSQL or Oracle; experience with NoSQL databases including MongoDB or DocDB.
• Experience working in a DevOps environment and with Agile methodologies and modern software development and testing practices.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, strong follow-through, analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, business-critical environment.
• Prior experience in financial services or asset management.
• BS or BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
