Senior Software Engineer II (Investors)

Location: Toronto or Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; the position also lists the United States as another location.

Salary: $181,050–$213,000 CAD per year, plus equity and benefits for full-time roles.

What you will do

• Lead complex technical projects from concept through production while maintaining performance and reliability.
• Identify opportunities to simplify application architecture, code, and infrastructure with measurable business impact.
• Use AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development speed and code quality.
• Mentor engineers through architectural guidance and thorough pull-request reviews.
• Collaborate with product and design to build solutions that address user needs.

Requirements

• Experience with or willingness to learn Python, Django, React, Postgres, and Kafka.
• Additional technologies include Java, gRPC, and AWS.
• Ability to break down complex user stories and execute with minimal guidance.
• Ability to explain the reasoning behind technical decisions and communicate trade-offs.
• Recommended: 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
