Highway Intern

Location: Hybrid in Allentown, Fort Washington, or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States; periodic on-site construction inspection is required.

Compensation: $20–$25 per hour.

Engineering and consulting services provider working on transportation, infrastructure, environmental, construction, and program management projects.

What you will do

• Prepare highway, traffic, bike/pedestrian, stormwater management, roadway, and bridge design plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Assist senior engineers within a large multidisciplinary design team under the direction of a Project Engineer or Project Manager.
• Perform periodic on-site construction inspection and observation, including researching and solving field problems.
• Monitor contractor schedules and document field progress and quantities for contractor payment.
• Complete field views and related administrative documentation.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related program. A focus in Transportation Engineering is preferred.
• At least one year of coursework completed.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Computer skills in Microsoft Office.
• Strong organization and presentation of documentation.

Nice to have

• Transportation Engineering focus.
• AutoCAD or MicroStation design software experience.
