Senior Web Engineer (Next.js)

Location: Remote, based in the U.S.

Base salary: $136K–$252K per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Build and improve high-traffic organic shopping pages, focusing on performance, SEO, user engagement, and Core Web Vitals.
• Partner with product, Organic Growth, and data teams to run experiments, measure impact, and iterate on web experiences.
• Drive technical initiatives involving performance, observability, scalability, security, developer experience, and platform modernization.
• Develop front-end features, back-end APIs, and integrations with machine learning systems supporting personalization and data-driven decisions.
• Maintain platform stability through monitoring, troubleshooting, incident management, and production-quality engineering.
• Mentor engineers, conduct code reviews, and promote best practices in coding, testing, and architecture.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of software engineering experience with a strong background in client-focused full-stack development.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Expertise in ES6, TypeScript, Node.js, and the web platform; proficiency in other modern languages such as Rust, Go, or Python.
• Expertise with modern front-end frameworks and technologies including Astro.js, Next.js, React.js, Tailwind, or Nuxt.js.
• Deep knowledge of web performance, Core Web Vitals, and technical SEO.
• Understanding of design, usability, user experience, and accessibility best practices.
• Experience with observability and running a production website or application at scale.
• Experience with database systems, microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure such as Vercel, AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Ability to work remotely while based in the U.S.
