Senior Software Engineer, Web Platform

Location: Remote - United States

Base salary: $190,800–$267,100 USD per year, plus potential equity and commission depending on the position offered.

What you will do

• Design and evolve the Shreddit web platform architecture, performance, and developer tooling powering reddit.com.
• Lead end-to-end delivery of complex cross-service initiatives involving asset delivery, HTML processing, observability, and reliability for core web experiences.
• Optimize global web performance, HTML rendering, web infrastructure resiliency, and scale.
• Improve developer experience through AI tooling, automated workflows, standardized patterns, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Maintain quality through code reviews, design document evaluations, and feedback on product specifications and UI mocks.
• Establish developer workflows, promote engineering best practices, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency with modern web stacks, including JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and Next.js, with experience building performant, scalable, safe, responsive, production-grade applications.
• Experience tracing, profiling, and tuning performance across network calls, rendering, or data access paths, including monitoring and reporting operational health.
• Experience implementing AI workflows and tooling to support and accelerate web development, optimization, and debugging.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining robust APIs using protocols such as REST, GraphQL, gRPC, HTTP, or Thrift basics.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Curiosity about emerging technologies, modern industry trends, standards, and performance optimization.
