Remote WordPress Developer (WordPress)

Location: Fully remote; applicants are welcome from around the world. Availability required Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Pacific Time.

Starting base pay for candidates in California, New York, Washington, and Colorado: $17–$35 per hour. Compensation outside these states may fall outside the listed range.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, customize, and optimize WordPress websites.
• Create custom WordPress themes and plugins, integrate tools such as WPML, WooCommerce, and membership plugins, and make sites manageable through the admin panel.
• Migrate websites from other platforms to WordPress and fetch backend data through WPGraphQL or the WordPress REST API.
• Optimize websites for page speed, performance, SEO, and conversion rate optimization.
• Transform PSD layouts into pixel-perfect HTML5/CSS3 templates and create responsive, cross-browser-compatible designs.
• Use Git or SVN, manage multiple projects under tight deadlines, and maintain high quality and attention to detail.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of WordPress development experience.
• Strong knowledge of WordPress, including its architecture, custom theme and plugin development, plugin integration, and administration-panel manageability.
• Expertise with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript; proficiency in PHP, MySQL, and AJAX.
• Ability to work in a LAMP environment and perform WordPress database and code optimization.
• Experience fetching WordPress backend data with WPGraphQL or the WordPress REST API.
• Strong understanding of responsive web design, cross-browser compatibility, W3C web standards, semantic HTML, and accessibility guidelines.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks, with excellent organization, attention to detail, adaptability, and willingness to learn quickly.
• Excellent written and spoken English skills and ability to work in a diverse, multicultural remote environment.
• Availability for 40 hours per week on the specified Pacific Time schedule and a reliable remote workstation with a fast computer, microphone, speakers, internet, and power.

Nice to have

• Experience with ReactJS or AngularJS.
• Experience with BigCommerce, Magento, Shopify, or WooCommerce development.
• Experience with WordPress performance optimization, SEO and CRO implementation, and responsive website development from PSD layouts.
• Experience using Git or SVN for version control.
