Salary: EUR 2300–3725 per month gross; final compensation depends on experience, location, and professional growth

What you will do

• Build and maintain custom themes, plugins, Gutenberg blocks, libraries, block collections, Composer packages, and development tooling for high-traffic, multilingual WordPress sites.
• Refactor legacy code, optimize queries and caching, and meet Core Web Vitals targets.
• Design, build, consume, and maintain REST APIs and integrations with internal and third-party systems.
• Participate in code reviews, CI/CD improvements, and the establishment of engineering standards and development best practices.
• Collaborate with product, marketing, SEO, and content teams on new features and site improvements.
• Support timely product delivery and take ownership of code quality, including AI-assisted development output.

Requirements

• 3.5+ years of professional experience as a WordPress Developer using Object-Oriented PHP 8.x, namespaces, PSR-4, and Composer.
• Deep knowledge of WordPress core APIs, including hooks, custom post types and taxonomies, meta and custom fields using ACF Pro and native functionality, and WP_Query.
• Production experience building Gutenberg blocks with React, JSX, block.json, and @wordpress/scripts.
• Strong modern JavaScript ES6+, build tooling with webpack or Vite, and modern CSS using Sass or PostCSS; Tailwind is a plus.
• Experience designing and building RESTful APIs, including custom WordPress REST endpoints.
• Knowledge of WordPress security practices, including escaping, sanitization, nonces, and capabilities, as well as performance practices such as object caching and query optimization.
• Experience with Git-based workflows, pull requests, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work in an AI-assisted workflow using tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, or Cursor, with judgment to review, verify, and own generated code.
• English at Intermediate+ level or above.

Nice to have

• Experience with WordPress block themes, Full Site Editing, theme.json, and the Interactivity API.
• Familiarity with Bedrock or similar Composer-based WordPress architectures.
• Experience with automated testing and static analysis using PHPUnit, Playwright, PHPStan, and PHPCS/WPCS.
• Experience with Timber/Twig, Blade, or similar templating engines.
• Experience with WordPress Multisite and multilingual solutions such as WPML or Polylang.
• Experience with headless WordPress, including WPGraphQL and Next.js.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards and technical SEO.
