Sr. Director, Architecture (AWS)

Location: Dallas, TX, United States; office location at 5420 LBJ Freeway, Suite 600, Dallas, TX 75240

Salary: $168,750–$292,500 per year, plus potential annual discretionary bonus

What you will do

• Own the architecture strategy and run the Solution Architecture practice across engineering teams.
• Lead, hire, develop, manage, and coach managers and engineers across Core API and Platform Engineering.
• Build the foundation for API- and event-based system integration, including the Core API team and event bus infrastructure.
• Build and support shared development platforms, CI/CD capabilities, reference implementations, and core engineering infrastructure.
• Define engineering goals and improve code quality, deployment speed, security practices, collaboration, and technical decision-making.
• Partner with the VP of Engineering, CIO, Technology leadership, security teams, and the Technology Architecture Guild on strategy, budgets, priorities, and execution.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or related experience.
• 15+ years of experience in software development and architecture, including 10+ years managing engineering teams.
• Experience coaching and mentoring engineering leaders across technical and management tracks.
• Knowledge of the technical, operational, and cultural structures required to scale teams in a high-growth environment.
• Ability to translate enterprise-wide short- and long-range architecture strategies into current and future application and system designs and implementations.
• Proven experience developing enterprise APIs and messaging solutions and decomposing complex problems into logical domains.
• Experience implementing enterprise integration architecture patterns and related technologies.
• Knowledge of layered, monolithic, client-server, and component-based architectural styles.
• Deep understanding of AWS, Infrastructure-as-Code, and modern CI/CD practices; knowledge of multiple modern languages and technologies including JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Go, React, Java, Swift, Kotlin, .NET, and SQL.
• Ability to make difficult decisions, participate in technical details, empower teams, communicate effectively, and collaborate and negotiate with internal and external peers.
