Program Manager I – Enterprise Operations Enablement (Banking)

Location: Hybrid in Buffalo, New York, United States; based at the M&T Center office with in-office work required four days per week—Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, plus one additional day—and one remote day per week.

Salary: $107,500.00–$179,100.00 annual (USD).

What you will do

• Lead multiple related projects and ongoing operations affecting three or more businesses or functional areas, from initiation through close.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, forecasts, budgets, work breakdown structures, resource plans, communication plans, risk plans, and quality plans.
• Coordinate project execution, monitor cost, schedule, technical performance, scope changes, dependencies, risks, variances, and corrective actions.
• Establish program governance, executive reporting, steering committee processes, and stakeholder communications.
• Lead, mentor, train, motivate, and coordinate teams of approximately 5–15 direct and indirect reports and project teams of 50–100 people.
• Maintain risk, regulatory, audit, internal control, and compliance standards, escalating risk-related issues when required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of proven project management experience, or, in lieu of a degree, at least 12 years of combined higher education and/or work experience including at least 8 years of proven project management experience.
• Proficiency with personal computers and pertinent software packages, with strong knowledge of project management methodology.
• Knowledge of Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid delivery methodologies.
• Experience leading complex cross-functional programs with multiple projects and workstreams, and establishing program governance, executive reporting, and steering committee processes.
• Ability to manage program-level risks, dependencies, resource constraints, competing priorities, project scope, schedules, costs, and budgets.
• Strong stakeholder management, verbal and written communication, negotiation, influencing, consensus-building, and executive communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal, teamwork, self-management, and time-management skills, including the ability to work under time constraints and across different organizational levels.
• Ability to build mutual trust, encourage respect, and remain open to diverse points of view.

Nice to have

• Experience in financial services, banking operations, or enterprise operations.
• Experience supporting large-scale operational, regulatory, or transformational initiatives.
• Experience with portfolio management, capacity planning, and business readiness activities.
• PMP certification; PgMP, Agile, Lean Six Sigma, or Change Management certifications are also considered.
• Master’s degree.
