Senior Software Engineer, Java | Platform & Asset Management

Location: Remote from the USA for candidates residing in CA, CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, KS, MA, MD, ME, NJ, NC, NY, OH, OR, TN, TX, VA, or WA. Hybrid work is available from physical offices in Austin, Texas or Tampa, Florida. Onsite interviews may be required. Candidates cannot reside within the city limits of Chicago unless willing to self-relocate outside the city.

Base salary: $140,000–$200,000 per year for roles based in California, Colorado, Maryland, New Jersey, Washington, or New York. Salary depends on location, market demand, experience, knowledge, and skills.

What you will do

• Develop large-scale software applications using Java and Kotlin for platform, asset management, and IT operations capabilities.
• Build and maintain features for knowledge bases, custom checklists, custom fields, apps, services, software license tracking, asset discovery, and unmanaged-device visibility.
• Implement design patterns and ship enterprise-level software operating at scale across millions of endpoints.
• Apply quality-first engineering practices and contribute code as a trusted senior engineer.
• Design and scale event-driven, client-server, asynchronous, and responsive messaging systems.
• Collaborate with fellow engineers to maintain product quality and observability standards.

Requirements

• 10+ years of Java software development experience for product applications or equivalent. Strong Kotlin expertise is relevant to the role.
• 4+ years of experience working with highly scalable software systems.
• Experience scaling systems with event-driven architectures using tools such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Working knowledge of object-oriented programming design principles.
• Knowledge of API best practices and REST service development using Jersey or Spring.
• Experience designing and developing relational databases.
• Experience with both client-side and server-side development for responsive messaging.
• Expertise in caching systems; Redis experience is relevant to the role.
• Expert knowledge of quality testing practices and experience treating telemetry and observability as core acceptance criteria.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident.
