Build & Deployment Engineer II (Kubernetes)

Location: On-site at the San Diego headquarters, United States; remote work is not available. Requires up to 10% domestic travel and flexibility to work nights, weekends, or holidays as needed.

Salary: $110,982–$155,376–$199,769 annually. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and software build and deployment automation.
• Deploy and maintain on-premises Kubernetes clusters and workloads using Helm, Operators, custom resource definitions, Kustomize, and ArgoCD.
• Manage CI/CD infrastructure and developer tooling, including Jenkins or GitLab CI, Git, Artifactory or Nexus, Ansible, and Terraform.
• Provision and manage virtual machines, bare-metal servers, and Kubernetes infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
• Integrate observability, logging, monitoring, alerting, automated security scanning, vulnerability scanning, and policy enforcement.
• Support API lifecycle automation, recommend technology and process improvements, and provide documentation, training, and mentoring.

Requirements

• BS/BA and 8+ years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including 4 years as a subject matter expert in the relevant areas.
• Excellent Bash, Python, and/or Groovy scripting skills and strong understanding of software build and deployment automation frameworks.
• Multiyear hands-on experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools including Jenkins, GitLab CI, Git, Artifactory or Nexus, Ansible, Kubernetes, and ArgoCD.
• Strong hands-on Kubernetes expertise in AKS and private cloud, including cluster administration, workload scheduling, CNI networking, CSI storage, RBAC, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Helm, Kustomize, and GitOps tools such as ArgoCD and Flux.
• Experience with UNIX command line, Windows OS, software development lifecycle practices, and Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Experience with Microsoft Project or similar software and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to train and mentor less experienced staff, prioritize multiple projects, communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and work with internal, external, and vendor clients.
• Ability to apply logical or scientific thinking, advanced mathematical concepts, and interpret technical, scientific, financial, and legal documents.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with pharmacy benefit management plans, programs, and practices, as well as pharmaceutical terminology and medications.
