DevOps Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Hybrid, with an average of 2–3 days per week at the Columbia, MD office or customer site at Ft. Meade, MD; U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance are required.

Salary: $115,199–$150,000 per year.

What you will do

• Support development and deployment of AWS cloud infrastructure, especially EKS.
• Automate deployment processes and implement CI/CD pipelines for reliable, rapidly scalable services.
• Manage Kubernetes containers and AWS cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into operational infrastructure.
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and maintain high availability.
• Improve infrastructure tools and processes while evaluating new technologies and trends.

Requirements

• 5+ years of DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor's degree; or 3 years of relevant experience with a related master's degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience.
• Active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance, ability to obtain TS/SCI, and U.S. Citizenship.
• Strong knowledge of one or more of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms; AWS services including EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda; configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible; or application, container, and OS deployment, scaling, and management.
• Ability to develop in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools; comfortable working in a terminal-based environment.
• Strong problem-solving, complex troubleshooting, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Must have or obtain DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification, such as Security+, within 30 days of hire.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment for 2–3 days per week at the Columbia, MD office or Ft. Meade, MD customer site, with flexibility for schedule changes.

Nice to have

• Active Top Secret clearance and willingness or ability to obtain SCI read-in.
• Proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Git, Flux, Helm, and other development and deployment tools.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto.
• Experience with K9s, AWS CLI, AWS SNS, AWS SQS, and AWS Diode.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and standard software development tool suites.
