DevOps Engineer (AWS)

Location: Hybrid, averaging 2–3 days per week at the San Antonio, TX office or customer site; onsite frequency and locations may vary based on customer and contract requirements. U.S. Citizenship and an active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance are required.

Salary: $100,173–$130,000 annually.

What you will do

• Support development and deployment of AWS cloud infrastructure, especially EKS.
• Automate deployment processes and implement CI/CD pipelines for reliable, rapidly scaling services.
• Manage Kubernetes containers and AWS infrastructure, including application, container, and operating-system deployment, scaling, and maintenance.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into operational infrastructure.
• Monitor production systems, troubleshoot complex issues, and maintain high availability.
• Continuously improve infrastructure performance, tools, and operational processes while evaluating new technologies.

Requirements

• Active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance, U.S. Citizenship, and ability to obtain TS/SCI are required.
• 5+ years of DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor’s degree; or 3 years of relevant experience with a related master’s degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent with 9 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of one or more of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms; AWS services such as EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda; configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible; or application, container, and OS deployment, scaling, and management.
• Ability to develop in Python, Bash, or Go.
• Familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools, plus comfort operating in a terminal-based environment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, including identifying and troubleshooting complex issues.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must have or obtain DoD 8140 / 8570 compliance certification, such as Security+, within 30 days of hire.
• Must work in a hybrid environment, averaging 2–3 days per week at the San Antonio office or customer site, with flexibility for schedule, location, and customer/company support changes.

Nice to have

• Active Top Secret security clearance and willingness or ability to obtain an SCI read-in.
• Proficiency in Linux system administration and troubleshooting.
• Familiarity with Git, Flux, Helm, and other development and deployment tools.
• Experience with big data technologies including Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ElasticSearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto.
• Experience with K9s, AWS CLI, AWS SNS, AWS SQS, and AWS Diode.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and standard software development tool suites.
