DevOps Engineer (AWS/Kubernetes)

Location: Fort Meade, Maryland, United States. Onsite at the customer site 4–5 days per week during regular business hours; flexibility is required to accommodate schedule changes and help open or close the workspace as needed.

Salary: $150,000–$185,000 annually. The role also includes a $20,000 sign-on bonus.

What you will do

• Support development and deployment of AWS cloud infrastructure, especially EKS, as well as on-premise and portable edge infrastructure.
• Manage Kubernetes containers and AWS infrastructure, including deployment, scaling, and maintenance.
• Automate deployment processes and improve service reliability, scalability, availability, and performance.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate applications into the infrastructure.
• Monitor and troubleshoot production systems, resolving complex issues as needed.
• Provide hands-on technical guidance, mentorship, and team leadership while exploring improvements to infrastructure, tools, and processes.

Requirements

• Current active Secret U.S. Government Security Clearance, ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI, and U.S. citizenship.
• 9+ years of DevOps Engineering or Software Development experience with a related bachelor’s degree; or 7 years of relevant experience with a related master’s degree; or a high school diploma/equivalent with 13 years of relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms and AWS services including EKS, EC2, EBS, S3, and Lambda.
• Proficiency with configuration management tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Experience deploying, scaling, and managing applications, containers, and operating systems.
• Ability to develop in multiple programming languages such as Python, Bash, or Go; familiarity with Git, Flux, and other development and deployment tools.
• Proficient Linux system administration and troubleshooting skills, with comfort working in a terminal-based environment.
• Excellent problem-solving, oral communication, and written communication skills.
• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies and standard software development tool suites; demonstrated experience as a tech lead, mentor, or engineering manager.
• DoD 8140/8570 compliance certification, such as Security+.
• Ability to work onsite at the Fort Meade, Maryland customer site 4–5 days per week.

Nice to have

• Current active TS/SCI clearance.
• Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Accumulo, Ceph, Spark, NiFi, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, Hive, Drill, Impala, Trino, or Presto.
• Experience with containers, EKS, Diode, CI/CD, and Terraform.
