WC Claims Representative (Workers Compensation)

Location: Hybrid role based in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States

Salary: USD $60,000–$78,000 per year

What you will do

• Investigate assigned lost-time workers compensation claims and determine coverage and compensability under applicable jurisdictional guidelines.
• Establish reserves, evaluate exposure, analyze claim information, make timely payments, and manage claims through resolution.
• Document claim files, maintain diaries, and handle both litigated and non-litigated claims.
• File required state forms within statutory deadlines and ensure compliance with company, state, and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with nurses and vendors on medical and disability management, including return-to-work efforts.
• Prepare for and participate in claims reviews and settlement conferences while providing effective customer service.

Requirements

• Knowledge of workers compensation statutes, coverage, and case law.
• Working knowledge of medical treatment and terminology related to medical-only workers compensation claims.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Critical thinking skills for assessing claim compensability based on facts and applicable law.
• 1–3 years of claims experience preferred, including experience handling claims in the South/West region.
• College degree preferred.
