IS Technical Specialist/Back-end Tech Lead (Java)

Location: Columbus, OH; office-based workplace type. Certain positions may be eligible for a flexible work arrangement, with specific arrangements provided by the hiring team.

Salary: $70,000–$140,000 annual base compensation, plus eligibility for applicable incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Analyze, design, and develop systems based on user specifications.
• Build and support performant API-enabled applications and event-driven systems using cloud-native practices.
• Provide technical assistance in resolving hardware and software problems.
• Use technical tools for systems development, production support, and infrastructure engineering.
• Track relevant technical industry trends and apply them to Huntington’s systems.
• Assist with training less experienced staff and serve as project leader for specific projects when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 5+ years of development experience using Java, building API-enabled applications and event-driven architecture.
• Ability to write SQL queries and stored procedures, with knowledge of databases including Oracle and Snowflake.
• 2+ years of production support, infrastructure engineering, or administration experience.
• Experience with or good working knowledge of DevSecOps, Kubernetes or other container-based technologies, and deployment pipelines.
• Learning mindset with openness to learning new technologies, building solutions, and experimenting.
• Experience working on product teams and awareness of agile practices.

Nice to have

• Experience with marketing applications or integration.
• Previous architecture or technical lead experience.
• Deep knowledge of microservices patterns and the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot and Spring Batch.
• Ability to balance development and support responsibilities.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Customer-service focus and ability to work effectively with IT, vendor, and business groups.
• Cloud architect, cloud engineer, or cloud developer certification.
