Lead Software Developer (Java)

Location: Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA, 20878; technical leadership during North American business hours.

Salary: $143,400–$215,000 per year; actual compensation may vary based on education, experience, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and market conditions. The role may also be eligible for bonus or commissions.

What you will do

• Design, develop, enhance, and support scalable, secure, and high-performing Visibility solutions across TG Insights and legacy Visibility products.
• Translate business requirements into maintainable technical solutions and collaborate with architects and senior engineering leaders on architecture, design, and technology decisions.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and engineering best practices across the Business Network Visibility organization.
• Act as a technical escalation point and lead investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of critical production incidents and customer escalations.
• Improve reliability, observability, operational efficiency, and system performance while supporting customer implementations and go-lives with Professional Services.
• Influence TG Insights product direction through Visibility domain expertise and use AI-assisted development tools and prompt engineering to improve productivity, code quality, and delivery velocity.

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on development experience.
• Expert-level experience with Java 17/21 and Spring Boot microservices.
• Strong expertise in distributed systems, REST APIs, microservices, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Deep Apache Kafka experience, including consumer groups, partitioning, offset management, schema evolution, and event-driven architectures.
• Hands-on experience with Oracle Database and Cassandra in scalable enterprise environments.
• Ability to design, build, and support highly available and scalable enterprise applications, with strong software architecture and design pattern expertise.
• Experience developing and operating cloud-native solutions in AWS and GCP, with a focus on resiliency, observability, and security best practices.
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Anthos, Istio Service Mesh, Helm, Terraform, and GitLab CI/CD.
• Experience supporting enterprise SaaS platforms, resolving production incidents, developing with AI assistance, working in globally distributed teams, and operating large-scale event-driven architectures in supply chain, logistics, transportation, visibility, or enterprise analytics domains.
