Director, Value Stream Transformation

Location: Virtual, United States; regular travel of 30–40% across a global operating company portfolio

Base compensation: $164,000–$225,000 per annum

What you will do

• Define transformation charters with Presidents, GMs, VBS Business Partners, and sponsors, including outcomes, baselines, owners, resources, risks, and exit criteria.
• Recommend portfolio priorities and start/stop/continue decisions based on enterprise value and readiness.
• Assign VBSLs and support resources, establish weekly reviews, and maintain transparent reporting on milestones, blockers, decisions, Finance validation, and capability transfer.
• Mentor VBSLs in systems thinking, Gemba-based learning, structured problem solving, stakeholder influence, and business judgment.
• Pressure-test root causes, countermeasures, benefits logic, sponsor engagement, and local ownership while removing or escalating cross-functional barriers.
• Improve enterprise transformation standards and charters, and ensure benefits are sustained after central resources withdraw.

Requirements

• 15+ years of progressive experience in a relevant business, operational, or functional field with a strong background in lean transformation.
• Proven enterprise transformation and business turnaround experience using lean methodologies.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
• Demonstrated leadership of complex, cross-functional transformations with measurable outcomes.
• Experience mentoring transformation leaders and influencing senior sponsors.
• Demonstrated financial judgment and ability to adapt methods across varied business conditions.
• Expertise in value-stream transformation and Lean thinking; proficiency in problem solving, growth thinking, and change leadership; competence in strategy execution, 80/20 thinking, financial judgment, data judgment, and developing others.
• Willingness to travel regularly, 30–40%, across a global operating company portfolio.
• Executive presence, ability to influence without authority, builder mindset, respect for operating-company context, data-driven decision-making, storytelling, and executive communication skills.

• Leadership experience within a P&L or major function.
• Experience building operating routines across multiple sites or functions.
• Experience governing a transformation portfolio across commercial, product, service, operations, supply chain, finance, or support value streams.
