Design Engineer

Location: Solihull, United Kingdom; flexibility to be based from the Leeds, Manchester, Kilsyth, or Birmingham office depending on location and preference; site visits required where necessary.

What you will do

• Prepare safe, practical, and economical temporary works designs across construction projects.
• Liaise with project teams to understand design requirements and develop effective solutions.
• Produce calculations, design risk assessments, sketches, and technical documentation.
• Support conceptual and detailed engineering designs in line with relevant standards and codes.
• Assist Project Design Leads and Senior Engineers with project and bid delivery.
• Undertake site visits, maintain project information, and contribute to continuous improvement and technical knowledge sharing.

Requirements

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience in civil and/or structural engineering design.
• Knowledge of construction methods and construction processes.
• Experience using engineering analysis and design software.
• Membership of ICE, IStructE, or an equivalent professional institution, with progress toward Chartered Engineer status.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

Nice to have

• Construction site experience.
• Knowledge of BS 5975 and temporary works management principles.
• Familiarity with Modern Methods of Construction and DfMA.
• Knowledge of digital engineering and digital construction processes.
