Senior Site Engineer (Construction)

Location: Birmingham, United Kingdom; site-based role.

What you will do

• Manage and coordinate construction of structural elements on commercial, education, and mixed-use projects valued at £10–100m.
• Carry out surveys, levelling, setting out, dimensional control, structural accuracy checks, and cut-and-fill calculations.
• Coordinate temporary works and falseworks, concrete operations, material requisitions, inspections, testing, and approvals.
• Manage subcontractors working on cut and fill, groundworks, reinforced concrete, and steelwork.
• Maintain quality assurance records, site diaries, as-built drawings, construction drawings, and engineering documentation.
• Support safe project delivery by identifying risks, conducting inspections, reporting incidents, and ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.

Requirements

• Degree or HNC/HND in a construction-related or engineering discipline.
• CSCS Card and valid driving licence.
• CITB or equivalent temporary works training.
• At least 2 years of postgraduate experience in site engineering.
• Experience using AutoCAD, the latest total stations, digital information systems, and setting-out or cut-and-fill software.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings, specifications, surveying, setting-out techniques, and quality assurance requirements for substructure and superstructure works.
• Practical experience across site engineering activities, with broad construction-based technical knowledge and understanding of BIM and computer-aided measurement tools.
• Strong communication, organisation, analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, accuracy, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with project teams, clients, construction managers, quantity surveyors, subcontractors, architects, designers, and other engineers.
