Actuarial Intern (Health Insurance)

Location: New York City office, hybrid schedule with at least 3 days of in-office work per week; Thursdays are required in-office days, with the other two office days flexible. Must be available 40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks.

Hourly rate: $33.04–$43.37. Employee benefits and monthly vacation accrual at a rate of 15 days per year are also provided.

What you will do

• Support one of the actuarial practices: Pricing, Experience, Trends, & Forecasting, or Valuation.
• Produce predetermined projects, which may include building automation tools, projection models, dashboards, or experience studies.
• Gain exposure to actuarial concepts, tools, healthcare industry practices, and technology-driven health insurance operations.
• Participate in actuarial and cross-functional meetings and build relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Assist with ad hoc analysis and communicate findings to actuarial and non-actuarial audiences.
• Comply with applicable laws and regulations and perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

• 3+ years of college completed toward a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Proficiency in Excel, SQL, or Python.
• For active college students: cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and credit for one or more actuarial exams.
• For college graduates: a degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or Statistics and two or more actuarial exams.
