Senior Managing Actuary (Health Insurance)

Location: Remote from anywhere within the continental United States, excluding California, New York, Alaska, and Hawaii.

Base pay: $112,200–$202,600 annually, plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus.

What you will do

• Manage the implementation, maintenance, critical review, and analysis of actuarial models, studies, and systems.
• Apply actuarial principles to pricing, underwriting, statistics, reserving, forecasting, and other actuarial functions.
• Develop complex models and teach others how to develop models.
• Prepare written and oral presentations that support decision-making.
• Manage complex day-to-day projects involving non-actuarial departments and external parties.
• Apply a deep understanding of multiple actuarial areas and at least one business segment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Economics; another bachelor’s or higher degree may be considered.
• Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) and Membership in the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA), with compliance with the membership requirements for each designation.
• At least 5 years of actuarial experience in health insurance or a related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in a management or lead capacity.
• Verbal and written communication skills for preparing documentation, facilitating training and development, and participating in presentations.
• PC proficiency, including Word and Excel.

• Pharmacy actuarial experience.
• Medicare experience.
• Health insurance or managed care experience.
• SQL experience.
• SAS, R, or other programming experience.
• Strong analytical and data modeling skills.
• Advanced Excel and PowerPoint proficiency.
• Experience analyzing large healthcare datasets.
