Early Career - Automation Engineer (Motion, PLC and HMI Programming)

Location: On-site in Moorestown, NJ, USA; occasional travel of less than 10% may be required for customer installations or service visits.

Base salary: $70,000–$90,000 per year.

What you will do

• Develop and implement PLC, HMI, and multi-axis motion control programs for advanced labeling systems.
• Collaborate with automation, electrical, and mechanical engineers.
• Troubleshoot and optimize automation systems for performance and reliability.
• Create documentation supporting assembly, testing, and servicing.
• Support pharmaceutical validation documentation.

Requirements

• BS degree in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent.
• Early-career experience level.
• Strong drive to continuously learn and adapt.
• Organized and results-driven approach.
• Team-oriented, collaborative, and willing to learn from senior engineers.
• Strong professional listening, speaking, and writing skills.
• Analytical problem-solving skills with a structured approach to identifying causes and generating solutions.

Nice to have

• PLC programming experience using structured text and/or ladder logic.
• Familiarity with Allen-Bradley Studio 5000 Logix Designer and/or B&R Automation Studio and ACOPOS motion control.
• HMI programming experience, ideally with Allen-Bradley FactoryTalk or B&R mappView.
• C++ programming experience.
• Motion control programming experience.
• Knowledge of OPC-UA and Ethernet/IP communication protocols.
• SQL database experience.
• SCADA or MES experience.
