Senior Automation Engineer (PLC/SCADA)

Location: Decatur, Alabama, USA; on-site. Travel up to 10% is required, including work at industrial plants and construction sites.

What you will do

• Develop PLC and HMI programs, hardware designs, control-system programs, and automation installation documentation.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, proposals, procurement, contractor bid packages, and delivery of automation components.
• Write functional descriptions based on customer control requirements and coordinate work across multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead factory and site acceptance testing, onsite commissioning, startup support, and operator training.
• Maintain multiple project schedules and client relationships while mentoring junior Automation Engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• At least 5 years of automation engineering experience in process, manufacturing, or utility industrial facilities.
• Experience with PLC systems including Rockwell ControlLogix/CompactLogix, Siemens SIMATIC, or Omron processors.
• Experience with HMI/SCADA systems such as Wonderware InTouch, Rockwell FactoryTalk, or Adroit Ignite.
• Knowledge of P&IDs, process instrumentation, control loops, safety instrumented systems, industrial networks, VFDs, and servo systems.
• Thorough knowledge of the National Electrical Code and the ability to work at industrial plants and construction sites, including climbing, walking, protective clothing, and respiratory protection.

Nice to have

• Experience with GE iFix, Trihedral VTScada, Siemens WinCC, Inductive Automation Ignition, Mitsubishi MELSEC, or Schneider Electric Modicon.
• Experience with ladder logic, function block programming, batch controls, recipe management, and CIP Safety circuits.
