Senior Lead, Security Engineering and Operations (Cybersecurity)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship; the role is full-time and onsite.

Salary: $114,500–$194,700 USD base pay annually.

What you will do

• Design, engineer, coordinate, and operate enterprise security platforms across zero-trust, SASE/SSE, network security, vulnerability management, AI guardrails, and SaaS protection.
• Deliver and support IPS across next-generation firewalls, vulnerability scanning and unified vulnerability management, secure web gateways, CASB, cloud access protection, browser isolation, and secure remote access.
• Implement AI gateway controls for how users and applications consume LLMs and AI services, along with ServiceNow Vulnerability Response, ITSM, and CMDB integrations.
• Support platform health, upgrades, capacity, resilience, lifecycle management, vendor escalations, and cross-functional security initiatives.
• Define metrics for coverage, control effectiveness, SLA adherence, tool health, control performance, and measurable risk reduction.
• Support PCI-DSS, SOX, GLBA, and OCC/FFIEC audits and regulatory exams through traceable controls, evidence, runbooks, and executive-ready documentation.

Requirements

• 12+ years of experience in information technology, cybersecurity, cloud, infrastructure, network security, or platform engineering, including hands-on support for enterprise-scale security platforms.
• Experience operating as a senior technical contributor and making tradeoffs across security, reliability, usability, and compliance.
• Deep hands-on experience with at least one SSE/SASE platform, including ZTNA, secure web gateway policy, segmentation, connector architecture, and operating model design.
• Working knowledge of IPS and next-generation firewall platforms, including signature tuning.
• Strong networking fundamentals covering TCP/IP, routing, DNS, TLS/PKI, proxies, IPsec/GRE tunneling, and segmentation.
• Experience with vulnerability management tooling and identity integrations such as SAML/OIDC, Entra ID, and conditional access.
• Scripting and API skills with Python, PowerShell, and REST/JSON.
• Experience integrating security tools with ServiceNow, SIEM platforms, and enterprise reporting workflows.
• Strong communication, documentation, audit support, stakeholder collaboration, and experience in regulated environments involving control evidence, operational resilience, risk acceptance, issue management, and regulatory response.

Nice to have

• Exposure to AI/LLM security controls, including AI gateways, prompt-injection defenses, OWASP Top 10 for LLM Applications, and MITRE ATLAS.
• ServiceNow Vulnerability Response or USEM implementation experience.
• Low-code automation or Terraform/IaC experience.
