Senior Analytics Engineer / BI Analyst (dbt/Looker)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid working. The role also offers the option to work from abroad for one month.

What you will do

• Design, build, and maintain scalable data models using dbt on Google Cloud Platform and BigQuery.
• Create and maintain Looker dashboards and explores to enable self-serve analytics.
• Translate business requirements into data models, metrics, and visualisations, and define core business metrics with stakeholders.
• Implement dbt data quality checks, testing, documentation, and reporting standards.
• Optimise BigQuery query performance and cost efficiency while supporting large-scale datasets.
• Partner with commercial, product, marketing, finance, and operations teams, and mentor junior analysts.

Requirements

• Previous experience in analytics engineering, BI, or data analytics roles.
• Expert-level SQL skills, preferably including performance tuning experience.
• Experience with modern cloud data platforms and distributed data warehouses such as BigQuery or Snowflake.
• Proven experience with dbt, including modelling, testing, and documentation.
• Experience building dashboards in Looker.
• Solid understanding of data modelling concepts, including star schema and dimensional modelling.
• Experience working with large-scale datasets.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, especially BigQuery.
• Experience with orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Knowledge of data governance and data quality frameworks.
• Exposure to reverse ETL tools such as Hightouch.
• Familiarity with LookML.
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants and integrating them into analytics workflows.
