Workday System Developer (Workday)

Location: Hybrid in Denver, CO; New York, NY; or San Francisco, CA. Employees based in hirify.global offices work onsite approximately 2–3 days per week or more depending on the role. Fully remote work may be approved from other locations, subject to company approval and reliable, consistent internet access.

Cash compensation: $128,000–$160,000 per year in Denver and most remote locations; $154,000–$193,000 per year in San Francisco, Seattle, and New York.

What you will do

• Lead configuration and optimization of Workday modules, including Payroll, Absence, Time Tracking, HCM, Talent, and Compensation.
• Architect Workday business processes, calculated fields, condition rules, and security roles, and evaluate new features in biannual releases.
• Develop advanced, matrix, composite, and dashboard reports while maintaining data quality, integrity, audit readiness, documentation, and control frameworks.
• Design test strategies, coordinate UAT, and lead regression and functional testing for Workday releases.
• Provide expert-level support by diagnosing complex issues, developing scalable solutions, and preventing recurrence.
• Partner with the People Team, IT, and cross-functional stakeholders; advise senior partners and mentor team members and key users.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, HR Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–7 years of hands-on Workday analyst or configuration experience.
• Advanced, wide-ranging knowledge of Workday security, business processes, reporting, and calculated fields, with the ability to independently determine methods and techniques for complex assignments.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate and resolve complex, ambiguous issues independently, select appropriate approaches, and deliver work reviewed upon completion rather than in progress.

Nice to have

• Workday certifications in Payroll, Absence, HCM, Benefits, Time Tracking, or Reporting.
• Experience in HR, payroll, benefits, or related domains.
• Experience working in an agile environment.
• Experience guiding policy development and mentoring junior team members on system best practices.
