Director, People Strategy & Optimization

Location: Remote, USA

Salary: $165,000–$175,000 annually

What you will do

• Advise the People Leadership Team on strategic, sensitive, and organizational matters, helping prioritize work and maintain alignment across the People function.
• Build board- and executive-level presentations and materials, translating people data and strategy into clear, decision-ready narratives.
• Prepare executive communications and Board Talent and Compensation Committee materials in partnership with Finance, Legal, and executive stakeholders.
• Use people analytics, workforce data, engagement metrics, and talent metrics to inform strategy, demonstrate business impact and ROI, and surface cross-functional insights.
• Assess and improve People function priorities, decision-making, resource allocation, operating model, and organizational capabilities.
• Lead complex cross-functional programs, establish SMART goals, track commitments, drive accountability, resolve stakeholder friction, and execute independently.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in strategic operations, program or project management, management consulting, or a comparable high-accountability strategic role. People or HR-adjacent experience is not required when analytical and program management skills are strong.
• Demonstrated ability to build high-quality executive- and board-level presentations with strong data storytelling.
• Experience preparing materials for or presenting to a Board of Directors or Compensation Committee, ideally in a People, Finance, or Strategy capacity.
• Strong people analytics fluency, including workforce data, engagement metrics, and talent metrics for strategy and decision-making.
• Experience using Workday or a comparable HRIS platform to access, interpret, and present workforce data.
• Ability to influence without formal authority and navigate complex stakeholder dynamics with tact and discretion.
• Confident written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to hold a room and conduct difficult conversations.
• Experience setting and enforcing accountability, including SMART goal frameworks and performance tracking.
• Excellent program management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex workstreams simultaneously.
• Curious, collaborative mindset combined with the independence to execute without close supervision once direction is set.
