Director of People Operations (AI)

Location: Sydney Office; Hybrid

Salary: A$160K–A$200K, plus equity

hirify.global builds software and AI agents for construction, infrastructure, and industrial companies, including Storm, Dashpivot, Gearbelt, Flowsite, and the hirify.global mobile app. The company has 200 people across 18+ countries and entities in Australia, the UK, the US, and Canada.

What you will do

• Own the People Operations function end to end, including global payroll, employee lifecycle, talent acquisition, IT provisioning, and people programs.
• Lead and develop a team comprising a Senior Talent Acquisition Manager and a People Operations Manager.
• Design the People Operations architecture across systems, entities, data flows, automations, AI agents, and human guardrails.
• Build workflows, automations, and AI agents personally, beginning with high-cost or error-prone manual processes.
• Create frameworks and self-serve playbooks for career paths, levels, compensation, performance, engagement, learning and development, promotion, and lifecycle processes.
• Partner with the CEO, Finance, Legal, and department leaders on strategy, payroll, workforce planning, org design, compensation, compliance, and employee relations.

Requirements

• Operations or leadership experience through a comparable growth-stage transition.
• Experience leading People Operations through a high-growth, high-change period, ideally including a systems or process transformation at a 100–300 person scale-up.
• Systems architecture thinking, including designing how multiple platforms and their data work together so processes run without manual administration.
• Hands-on experience personally building automations or AI agent workflows while running the function, with the ability to explain implementation details.
• Experience writing frameworks or playbooks that managers can execute independently.
• Ability to work effectively with ambiguity, form hypotheses quickly, and adapt based on learning.
• Experience with AI tools and project management and communication tools including Slack, Jira, and Confluence.

Nice to have

• Series B or growth-stage scale-up experience.
• Experience with Zapier, Airtable, or similar no-code automation tools.
• Experience with Rippling or a comparable HRIS and global payroll platform.
• Experience with Remote or a comparable employer of record platform.
• Experience with Ashby or a comparable applicant tracking system.
• Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude or Claude Code.
