Senior Billing Specialist (AI)

What you will do

• Own the end-to-end Finance onboarding process for new customers, including billing setup, Direct Debit mandates, customer data, first-invoice reviews, and process improvements.
• Prepare and review Shipping billing calculations, resolve customer and internal queries, and investigate root causes.
• Perform billing reconciliations and exception investigations while maintaining accurate records and documentation.
• Support customer termination and churn processes, including termination fee calculations and coordination with Credit Control.
• Lead implementation and testing of billing tools, map and redesign workflows, define requirements, track issues, and drive changes to completion.
• Drive automation and AI-enabled workflows, build reporting and data checks, and support Billing and Credit Control across Finance, Operations, and Product.

Requirements

• Background in finance operations, business or operations analysis, systems or process improvement, or a founder’s associate / chief-of-staff style role; direct billing experience is helpful but not essential.
• Exceptional analytical ability and a track record of quickly understanding complex processes and data.
• Strong process thinking, including mapping workflows, identifying inefficiencies, and designing scalable ways of working.
• Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills with confidence working with large datasets.
• Hands-on experience implementing, configuring, or testing business systems such as billing platforms, ERPs, CRMs, or workflow tools.
• High attention to detail and a rigorous approach to accuracy and controls.
• Clear written and verbal communication with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, and Product.
• Ownership mindset, initiative, ability to work with minimal supervision, and comfort with ambiguity in a fast-changing scale-up environment.
• Ability to resolve individual billing exceptions while redesigning the processes that caused them.

Nice to have

• SQL, BI tools, or scripting experience.
• Examples of applying automation and AI to improve how work gets done.
• Experience with transactional or usage-based billing.
• Direct billing experience.
